The role of victims in the public justice system is not well highlighted, advocated for or implemented. This leaves victims with a sense of exclusion from the process and a constant choice between securing their survival or their dignity. Social-economic barriers play a huge role in limiting the victims’ right to access to justice. At Rangi Yetu we seek to empower victims of crime to secure their rights in the public justice system and in turn secure their dignity. Our continuous service is aimed at sensitizing the public on their rights, training them on aspects of the public justice system, advocacy, being a referral mechanism to public justice actors and giving pro bono legal representation to the most vulnerable.
We do this in three pillars
Awareness
We seek to educate the public in underserved regions on victim rights understanding that social-economic barriers play a huge role in limiting the victims’ right to access to justice.
Training
At Rangi Yetu we train proffessionals within the justice sector, human rights defenders and first responders on specific areas of law; victim rights, Sexual Violence, Human trafficking, Child Online Exploitation and criminal justice system, as implementors and refferal partners.
Pro-bono Legal Services
Our team of proffessional Lawyers & Paralegals offer legal advice and representation to victims seeking help, organizations representing victims and survivors of violence.
Advocacy
We draft, develop and guide on implementation of legal policies, engage in strategic litigation for public interest projects and colloborate with actors in the justice system for implementation of victim rights.
